Jersey City, NJ at a Glance
With such a close proximity to New York
City, just west of Manhattan
across the Hudson
River, Jersey City can be an ideal starting point for a vacation to the Big
Apple. However, if choosing a hotel in Jersey City, then there are some sights
here that are definitely a must see. Popular parks in the area include Washington
Rock State Park and Liberty
State Park, which covers over 1,000 acres and features abundant recreational
activities, such as walking, horseback riding and boating. The Liberation
Monument and Liberty
Walkway are also located in this park as well as the Liberty
Science Center. The Colgate
Clock is a unique and large attraction, which faces the bay and the 2, 200-pound
minute hand moves 23 inches every minute. Also, the Liberty
Landing Marina offers over 200 berths, a travel lift and a sailing school.
Visitors can also enjoy ferry rides from Liberty Landing to Ellis Island, the
Statue
of Liberty and Manhattan.
